Apple announces new Mixed Reality headset called Vision Pro | Technology News

Apple has finally announced its first-ever mixed-reality headset called ‘Vision Pro’. The headset is primarily positioned as an Augmented Reality device, but it switches between AR and VR effortlessly using a dial.

Unlike other AR headsets, Vision Pro does not come with a controller and instead makes use of the wearer’s eyes and hands to navigate the interface. Users can scroll between rows of icons by simply looking at them and perform actions like tap to select and flick to scroll. It also supports voice commands from Siri and supports Bluetooth accessories that let you access content from Mac when wearing the headset.

The headset can also display your eyes with a new system called ‘Eyesight’. If you are using Vision Pro in full VR, a glow on the headset’s screen will indicate that the wearer is unable to see their surroundings. Apple says the device can show the real world in full colour and has the ability to project 3D objects like apps and windows in the real world.

Most importantly it offers immersive view and spatial audio. The headset lets you use iOS applications, play games, and watch streaming content in a panoramic set-up owing to its immersive viewing experience.

Vision Pro offers apps in the real world that seem like having access to a personal IMAX theatre. At the event, Apple offered a demo of how Vision Pro can show apps and how users can view the Apple TV.
