Apple introduced iPad Air M3 and upgraded the entry-level iPad with A16 chip | Technology News

On Tuesday, Apple introduced the upgraded iPad Air, powered by the M3 Apple Silicon chip, along with the 11th-generation iPad, now powered by the A16, the same chip that powers the iPhone 15.

“For everyone, from college students taking notes with Apple Pencil Pro to travellers and content creators who need powerful productivity on the go, iPad Air with M3, Apple Intelligence, and the new Magic Keyboard take versatility and value to the next level,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, in a press statement.

The iPad Air M3 series comes in two sizes—11-inch and 13-inch—and both variants have 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of internal storage. Apple says the iPad Air M3 is twice as fast as the iPad Air M1 and 3.5 times more powerful than the iPad Air with the A14 Bionic chip.

The latest iPad Air M3 also ships with the latest iPadOS with Apple Intelligence and offers optional 5G connectivity, a faster USB-C port, and the ability to handle AAA titles with support for hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing.

The iPad Air M3 is also compatible with the new Magic Keyboard, which comes with a 14-key function row, attaches magnetically to the iPad, and has a built-in USB-C port that can be used to charge the iPad without removing the case.

Similarly, Apple has also introduced an upgraded 11th-generation iPad, powered by the A16 chip, which offers 50 per cent more performance than the 9th-generation iPad powered by the A13 chip. This is also the first baseline iPad to start with at least 128GB of internal storage. It is available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options, while the rest of the features and specifications remain identical to the 10th-generation iPad.

Pricing and Availability

The 11-inch iPad Air M3 with 128GB of storage costs Rs 59,900 for the Wi-Fi-only model, while the cellular model with 5G connectivity starts at Rs 74,900. Similarly, the Magic Keyboard for the 11-inch and 13-inch models is priced at Rs 26,900 and Rs 29,900, respectively.

The new 11th-generation iPad starts at Rs 34,900 for the base model with 128GB of storage, and the cellular model costs Rs 49,900. The Magic Keyboard for the same is priced at Rs 24,900. The iPad Air and the baseline iPad are already available for pre-order and will be available for purchase starting March 12.
