Canon has announced the EOS R50V with the RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ. Aimed at content creators, the new video centric camera comes with a built-in power zoom lens and allows users to change the lenses at any time.
The camera has a DIGIC X image processor and comes with a 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor. It can also shoot 4K, 4K cropped and Full HD videos and has a battery life of up to 120 minutes. However, you can charge the camera on the go using a powerbank as it supports USB charging.
The company says the EOS R50V makes it easy for users to switch between video shooting styles, but you won’t get a viewfinder. However, the compact video camera is supported by grips and gimbals, which helps reduce fatigue if you are shooting for a long time.
Compared to its predecessors, Canon says its new camera sports a vertical shooting tripod socket on the side, an auto rotating shooting information, grip design and button layout, which makes it easier for users to quickly start and stop shooting vertically.
The Canon EOS R50V also comes with a new video-centric button and control layout which includes a movie-focused mode dial and dedicated button that offer one touch access to livestreaming options and colour modes. Using the new livestream button, the company says users can choose from four streaming methods like connecting wirelessly using the Camera Connect or Live Switcher Mobile app, using HDMI via a switcher or plugging in a USB-C cable.
If you happen to use a USB-C connection, the camera can stream cropped 4K 60p videos. It also doubles up as a capable still camera and has improved AF and subject detection capabilities over the EOS R50. You can buy it for Rs 79,995.
