This further expands Gemini’s multimodal capabilities introduced in the previous Pixel Feature Drop, enabling users to upload images, and files, and even add a YouTube link along with a text prompt to ask questions. Google has also confirmed that, in the coming days, Gemini Live on eligible Pixel smartphones with a Gemini Advanced subscription will be able to interact using live video and screen sharing.

The update also enhances the Pixel Screenshot app, which now offers suggestions to automatically categorise screenshots into different collections like expense reports, bills, and more.

Similarly, Pixel Studio, the AI image generator, receives an update that allows it to generate images of people using simple text prompts. This update also expands Google’s on-device Gemini Nano-powered scam detection to Google Messages, which was previously limited to the Phone app. Now, it automatically identifies spam messages and offers real-time warnings to users.

For Pixel Fold users, this update enables dual-screen camera previews even for video recording. It also adds support for connecting additional cameras and introduces multi-camera streaming capabilities.

The update also enhances the Recorder app, which can now transcribe audio recordings from other phones. Additionally, it includes improved routine support to enhance digital well-being.

Devices eligible for the March 2025 Pixel Feature Drop

The March 2025 update is available for the Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8, and Pixel 9 (review) series of smartphones. However, some features, such as connected cameras, scam detection in the Messages app, and Pixel Studio image generation, are limited to the current-generation Pixel 9 series.
