Nothing, a relatively new entrant in the Android smartphone market, has surpassed established companies by launching the latest Android 15-based Nothing OS 3 for all its devices, including its very first model, the Nothing Phone (1), which is two and a half years old. With this move, Nothing becomes the second Android smartphone brand to provide users with the latest software experience.
Currently, Google is the only Android smartphone brand providing day-to-day Android updates across its devices. While it has been some time since Android 15 was announced, it is remarkable that Nothing has accomplished something even established brands like Samsung have not, as Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra is still running on Android 14-based One UI 6.
This update ensures that Nothing delivers a consistent and streamlined user experience across its lineup, including the CMF Phone (1) (review), the company’s budget smartphone, and the Phone (2), a mid-range model. The Phone (1) was launched with Android 13, and the Android 15 update will be the last major update the device will receive.
Android 15-based Nothing OS 3 introduces several new features and enhancements, including a revamped quick settings menu, a customisable lock screen, a new gallery app, AI capabilities such as ‘Circle to Search’, and an overall improved user experience. If you own a Nothing smartphone, head to the settings to install the latest version and enjoy the newest Android features. Before updating, make sure to take a backup of all the data, just to be on the safer side.
