The iPhone 17 series is still months away from launch, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from speculating what the upcoming Apple phones will bring to the table. While nothing is official at the moment, from chipset to design changes, here’s everything we know so far about the iPhone 17 Pro.
Since the iPhone 11’s launch back in 2020, Apple seems to have stuck to a tried and tested design language, but it looks like that might change with the iPhone 17 Pro. According to a recently shared render by the known Apple tipster Jon Prosser, the iPhone 17 Pro will have a huge camera island that spans across the width of the smartphone. This camera island will have rounded corners and house three cameras on the left side and an LED flash,LiDAR scanner and a microphone on the right.
The tipster also suggests that the camera island will be darker than the rest of the iPhone, giving the smartphone a dual tone finish. Rumour also has it that Apple will be going with an aluminium frame instead of a titanium one, with the back of the device having a “part-aluminium, part-glass” design. While nothing is official at the moment, speculation suggests that all four iPhone 17 models will have a new 24MP selfie shooter with the iPhone 17 Pro getting a high resolution 48MP telephoto shooter.
As one would expect from a Pro series iPhone, the iPhone 17 Pro will most likely be powered by Apple’s A19 Pro chipset based on TSMC’s 3nm process. Like usual, we expect to see incremental performance gains and improved power efficiency. It is also likely that the upcoming iPhones will pack 12GB of RAM, which, if true, will be a huge upgrade over the current generation’s 8GB RAM. Another possibility is that Apple might also pack its in-house developed modem in favour of Qualcomm’s, but there is no news if that will be the case.
Note: Since nothing is official at the moment, we recommend you to take this information with a grain of salt since things may change down the line.
