Nintendo recently announced Alarmo, a new motion-controlled alarm clock that “responds to your movements”. This means buyers will be able to snooze or stop the alarm using gestures and movements.
Going by Nintendo’s description, Alarmo also features voices and music from five titles – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, Super Mario Odyssey and Ring Fit Adventure. While the alarm clock has 35 audio scenes, the company says users will soon be able to pull more sounds from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8.
All you have to do is select a title, pick a scene, and set the title, and Alarmo will try to wake you up by playing the sound and showing a game element you picked. Just before your alarm goes off, a character from the game of your choice will appear and wait patiently on the screen.

After a while, the alarm will play again and if you stay in bed for too long, it will get louder and more intense. Nintendo says you can snooze the alarm using hand gestures, but to end it, you will have to get out of bed, since the device uses a motion sensor to determine your position.
However, you do have the option of choosing between Steady Mode, which makes the alarm more intense the longer you stay in bed or switch to Gentle Mode, which offers a more consistent experience. Also, if you like pressing buttons, Alarmo even has a “Button Mode”. Apart from acting like an alarm clock, the device can also track the amount of time you spend in bed and see how much you move around during sleep.
Alarmo also has a 2.8-inch LCD screen and a brightness sensor along with a USB-C port that lets you power the clock. However, Nintendo states that the device is compatible with “Twin to King – sized beds” and that the best place for Alarmo is facing the centre of the bed within arm’s reach. Alarmo will be available in early 2025 and cost $99.99, which roughly translates to Rs 8,423.
