Realme recently launched the GT 7 Pro in China with a massive 6,500mAh battery, eclipsing even the latest flagships like the Oppo Find X8 Pro and the iQOO 13. Now, the company is reportedly considering an 8,000mAh battery for its upcoming flagship phone.
According to a recent post by the known tipster Digital Chat Station on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, Realme is testing even bigger batteries for its 2025 flagship phone, which may be GT 8 Pro.
The post suggests that Realme is thinking of packing a 7,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support, allowing the device to charge from zero to 100 per cent in just 42 minutes.
It goes on to say that the company is also considering a 7,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging and an 8,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging, which could be charged from zero to 100 per cent in 55 and 70 minutes respectively.
The tipster suggests Realme may have to make a tradeoff between the charging capacity and speed, but 70 minutes for an 8,000mAh battery is still faster than some popular flagship phones like the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
However, silicon-carbon-based batteries using Realme’s Titan technology, like the one found on the Chinese variant of the GT 7 Pro, do not support wireless charging. For those wondering, silicon carbon-based batteries work similarly to normal lithium-ion ones, but instead of using graphite as an anode, they make use of a silicon-carbon composite. If Realme goes ahead with a humungous 8,000mAh battery for its 2025 flagship device, we may no longer have to plug in our smartphones every night before sleeping.
